The first white settlement in Port Phillip Bay started at Sorrento with the arrival of a convict ship, the ‘Calcutta’, and supply ship ‘Ocean’ on October 9, 1803. William Buckley and other convicts and settlers including John Pascoe Fawkner, were on board and started the Sullivan Bay settlement.
This dinner commemorates their arrival, settlement, and the indigenous people William Buckley lived with for the next 31 years.
